Junglekor
Jeg har altid været vild med at arbejde med stemmer og rytmer. Efterhånden har jeg udviklet et kursus, som jeg kalder
Junglekoret. Her træner vi rytmer i hænder, fødder og hoved og kombinerer det med flerstemmige arrangementer. Derfor bliver det et kor.
Polyrytmer, skæve taktarter, taki gamala-timing.
Repertoiret henter inspiration fra bl.a vestafrikansk musik, pygmæsang, bulgarsk kor, balinesisk ketjak og minimalmusik á la Terry Riley.
Arrangementer fra bl.a. New Jungle Orchestras repertoire udføres vokalt. Ved stemmens og kroppens brug trænes polyrytmer, koordination, periodefornemmelse og flerstemmig sang.
Open Door-kursus
Der arbejdes med kollektiv komposition, improvisation og arrangement med udgangspunkt i deltagernes egne idéer og instrumentale færdigheder.
Udfra den aktuelle instrumentsammensætning opbygges et musikalsk forløb ud fra ostinater, klange, rytmer og improvisationsskalaer.
Ideen med “open door” er udviklet af Pierre Dørge, og både Pierre og Irene afholder kurser enkeltvis – og i fællesskab.
Titlen refererer dels til en arbejdsmetode i komposition, improvisation og arrangement og dels til det princip, at man henter inspiration fra principielt alle genrer – etnisk musik, rock, jazz og europæisk kompositionsmusik.
Pædagogisk og socialt er det en meget anvendelig metode, idet den kan bruges til alle aldersklasser fra børnehave- og musikskoleelever til voksenuddannelser på eksempelvis konservatorier og seminarier.

Workshops
Jungle Choir
I have always been fascinated about working with voices and rhythms. In the course of time, I have developed a course that I call The Jungle Choir. Here, we practice different rhythms using our hands, our feet and our heads and we combine these various actions with polyphonic arrangements. In this way, a choir comes into being.
Polyrhythms, complicated meters, taki-gamala timing.
The repertoire gathers its inspiration from influences like West African music, Pygmy songs, Bulgarian choir music, Balinese ketjak and minimal music a la Terry Riley.
Arrangements from, for example, the New Jungle Orchestra’s repertoire are executed vocally. In using our voices and our bodies, we are training our skills with polyrhythms, coordination, sense of period and polyphonic song.
Open Door-courses
Here, we are working with collective composition, improvisation and arrangement, taking our point of departure in the participant’s own ideas and instrumental proficiencies.
On the basis of the actual instrumental constitution of the group, a musical conversation is built up from different ostinatos, timbres, rhythms and improvisational scales.
The idea about the “open door” has been developed by Pierre Dørge. Both Pierre and Irene offer courses – each by themselves and also in collaboration.
The very name of the concept alludes to a working method that can be applied to composition, improvisation and arrangement and also alludes to the principle that we are embracing inspiration from all genres – ethnic music, rock, jazz and European compositional music.
In terms of its pedagogical utility and its practical social adaptability, the Open Door is a very serviceable method of teaching; it can be employed in working with all age-levels of students, ranging from kindergartens and music school students to adult education programs at places like conservatories and teacher’s colleges.
